Wella Trend Vision Final in Madrid

Friday 26th- Monday 29th October

I travelled to Madrid to make-up Daniel Couch's (HOB Salon) model for the world final of the Wella Trend Vision competition.  Our flight was delayed a few hours leaving London, so when we arrived at the hotel in Madrid we literally had to dump our bags and get back on the coach to the welcome shindig, held at a night club somewhere in Madrid.  The next morning we had to be up at 6 to go for breakfast and get back on the coach to head to the arena where the models were going to be spending the day rehearsing.  I spent the day sitting around and doing my best not to fall asleep!  That evening Daniel had to colour his models hair and it was another late night before getting up about 5am on Sunday to go to the arena for the competition!  Again we had three hours competition time to do the models hair, make-up and get her dressed before they were going to be judged.  There was about 90 competitors from all over the world so it was a tough one to call!  There were a lot of strong entries, but also a lot where you just thought 'what on earth is that'!  We then got to watch a bit of the show before the coach took us back to the hotel for an hour to get ready for the evening event.  This is when they would announce the winners.  Unfortunately Daniel didn't win, but his model was definitely one of the strongest there, it was just a matter of what the judges were looking for.  We could then finally relax and let our hair down at the after party.  We didn't get back to the hotel until about 5am, and had to be up at 9am to head to the airport to catch our flight.   I don't know how we did it!  Everyone looked like they were struggling, it was so awful, but also very funny looking back!  What a weekend!
