Ponystep magazine

Monday 23rd July

Somehow managed to arrive on time to this shoot assisting Georgina Graham, after stupidly getting the wrong train to Waterloo instead of Victoria, what a nincompoop!  So had to jump in a cab, and of course when you really want a taxi they are no where to be seen!  But it all ended fine, thank god!  Can certainly do without that stress first thing on a Monday morning!  Obviously was still half asleep!

We used the photographers flat on Pimlico Road as a base to get the models ready, and Andreas Larsson shot the models in the surrounding streets.  He had also hired out one of those really old buses with the steps going up the back for some of the pictures.  The ceiling of it was painted bright yellow which looked really cool in the pictures contrasting against the red of the bus, and the colours in the clothes.  The styling was really amazing and had a nineties feel to it, but the idea was that the clothes didn't look to 'fashiony'.  The pictures were shot in a portrait style and the models were told not to 'model' too much, and to just look really natural.  So Georgina could just see what outfit the models were going to wear and get a feel for the make-up from that.  Many of them were kept natural.  One of the models was this stunning mature lady and she did get a full face of make-up, she looked amazing!  It was very colourful.  I will post the pics once the magazine comes out...........

Hugh Cornwell video

Friday 29th June

Hugh Cromwell used to be part of the band The Stranglers, but is now going at it alone.  I probably shouldn't say too much about this video for his song 'God is a Woman', as it hasn't been released yet.  I had never been asked to powder somebodies 'lady garden' before, but I can safely say that I have now.  And not just one- 10 of them!!!  Thanks Natasha Make Up for the insight!

All Saints

Friday 1st June

I got my hair stylist friend, Alex James Fairbairn to work with me on this e-commerce shoot for All Saints.  We just had one guy and one girl to make up, so it was a super easy day.  They just wanted to keep the girl looking really natural and fresh with dewy skin.  I think they might chop her head off though, so all you will see is up to the mouth in the pictures and no hair, ha ha!  Of course that is no reflection of our beautiful work! ;o)

Vogue Japan

Wednesday 23rd May

Had a busy day assisting the encyclopedia that is Georgina Graham, at Spring Studios for Vogue Japan.  There were a lot of models, 11 or 12 maybe so it was all hands on deck.  Natalie Piacun, Georgina's first assistant was there too which helped massively.  All the models were great British models, and were all super lovely!  For the make-up Georgina was taking her inspiration from what the models were going to wear, and also from the model themselves.  There was no theme as such.  Georgina likes to work this way a lot.

Virgin Atlantic

Tuesday 22nd May

Spent the day assisting the lovely Mr Alex Babsky at Tim Bret Day's studio shooting for Virgin Atlantic.  So as you can imagine there was a lot of red involved!  All kinds of different shades of red nail varnish, lipstick and gloss.  The shooting was pretty quick, there were a few differnt scenarios that the models had to pose for one by one and the backdrop would be put in in post.  I always like shooting at this studio because the food is just so good!  And they always have chocolates, happy days!

Film for Twenty6 magazine

Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May

I can't say too much about this until it is released in October, but I was asked by Chris Turner whom is represented by Hungryman if I would do the make-up for a film he was directing for Twenty6 magazine online. It was a two day shoot and there were a lot of scenes to cram in.  I had such a good time, I could be really creative and the team was so lovely.  It was filmed in a huge, old, run down house not far from Victoria, it was the same house that was used for Cheryl Cole's L'oreal hair advert.  The fell of the film was quite dark but I can't give away any more!
